21" refurbished dell monitor from dell: $405 after shipping
Same from other place: $220 after shipping
Price a few years ago... $2000 or so?

This is how mittel narrowly avoids me forcing her to have the new computing system.

Need to get over cold/flu (can it be flu if you're not queasytum?) so can go to doctor. No sense going to doctor all sick. Can't do anything anything if depressed. Shelves of books of projects: sitting untouched.

Every once in a while i fixate on a person and have fantasies of mutual creative endeavors. This plummets to its death, and i stop. It's easier to try to create things when you think maybe someone cares about the results. It's harder to create things when you think about the greatest works ever created and sense that they're likely sad wee attempts of no real value.

Sometimes i think the way to clean is to put the clutter item into the fireplace.

Mead is sometimes beer and sometimes wine. We are baffled.

How many days till no more shrub? When nobody in the world feels safer then, and the US is still in Iraq, and all the terrorist networks still exist, and the country is more dramatically in debt than any time in history, and foreign creditors shy away, will the end of his 2nd term be celebrated as a great success? Very likely.

My brain is too much of computer. Create story: o no, a flaw. Gandalf could have just rode the eagle and dropped the ring into the volcano, tada, end of story. Guess we can't create Lord of the Rings or the entire Tolkien mega-cult. Giant worms under the sand...right, and friction wouldn't make them entirely immobile. Can't create the Dune mega-cult.

I finally have time and ability to do world travel, and enough credit card airline miles built up for free ticket to Europe, and my desire seems to have wasted away. Why pay to go be lonely somewhere where nobody can understand me and even trying to find something to eat is embarrassing and difficult.

A 30" Apple cinema display might make it all better. Or two or three or 6 in an array.

Double recipe
Double doubled vanilla
Add random liquid
Add ancient 99% Cacao bar, whirred
Add cocoa nibs
Add spanish Peanuts, whirled
Add random powder
Add a few chocolate chips, just in case
Makes: odd cookies, too many, considering I'm sick and shouldn't eat them.

How many drop me? Not one. Scoundrels, all.

newyearsresolution: eat the cookies, or not.
I like red wine better when it doesn't give me headaches.

I got me some Christmas and/or holiday cards. One two several.
My Bulgarians gave me lots of heavy metal mp3s. A title amuses me: "Kill With Power".

Back up all essential data. The universe is warning you via me.

Yer supposed to kiss at midnight NYE? Mittel and I shall have to use plastic wrap barrier to avoid cold propagate.

Dad unit: We can't figure out PeoplePC. Reinstall AOL.

Me: Turns on computer.

Computer: Chokes. Wobbles. Spits. Invites me to misc porn and internet gambling. Tries to phone Germany, but Dad unit put long-distance block on it after a large phone bill so it fails to do anything but disconnect AOL.

Me: Tries to get AOL's spyware and antivirus running for an hour, then takes computer to my house.

Me: Runs AOL's McAfee VirusScan, AOL's anti-spyware, Spybot, Ad-Aware, msconfig, all the day long, repeatedly. 13 or so trojans and worms and 500+ spyware things removed. Service Pack 2 installed. Firewall turned on. AOL security items installed.

Computer: Seemingly ok for a bit, then adware resumes, advertising adware removal and registry cleaners.

Me: Runs Hijack-This, grumbles at uselessness of all software, runs Symantec online Security Scan and Virus Detection. Symantec seems to be finding things that McAfee doesn't find. (Just as Ad-Aware and Spybot and AOL's anti-spyware all find things the others don't find.)

Me to World: My credit card is waiting to enrich anyone that can make a single-scan malware remover that actually works and that knows if wtf99ck.exe is shipped by HP or Microsoft or is malware so I don't have to guess. I don't care if it is a worm or a virus or a trojan or a browser hijacker or a dialer or spyware - just remove everything bad that you wouldn't want on your computer, and do it with a single piece of software that I can set to run automatically to always keep a parent's computer clean without confusing the parent. kthx.

Mac users: missing out on all the excitement.

So what'd you do for your Thanksgiving?

Does anyone else with a Mac find the optical mouse to be useless? I push it forward and the cursor skitters away from where I'm pushing it. Complained to Apple and they said tough mouse-titty. Replacement on the shopping list.

Sun to make Solaris free. Half want to add machine to my desk, biogeekinate. I've always thought Linux to be a messy monster, and last time I looked (years ago) preferred FreeBSD. But in practice I just have Cygwin, which I don't use. And OSX, but moo. I lost interest in MacOS about the time that unix geeks gained interest.

Mostly I just sit around being depressed, tho, and thinking about all of the projects that I wanted to do a couple years ago. Three weeks left on the omega-3 experiment before I give up and switch to zoloft or NRE or music.

What do I love. I love the automatic peak level adjustment of EAC, so random shuffle doesn't result in random volume adjustments needed. What do I hate. I hate negative indirect communication. What do I love. I love my kitty which sits right over there, looking.
