lj peep indirect quote of the day (student paper):
"Throughout history many forms of writing have developed to further better the connection of communication."
(Sure, it's fine if I say something like that, but I work hard on such things and they probably didn't.) (I don't really work hard tho.)

In Other Quote:
I say something at daughter unit which was not-normal-syntax and she make small 7-year-old comment about 'so now you're speaking Yoda?' Amused, I press onward with next statement, garbled farther still, and she say 'Now, see, you're just speaking Jodawi.'

Hee!

The Unicef advert, which shows the Smurf's village being bombed
The Unicef advert, which shows the Smurfs' village being bombed

The people of Belgium have been left reeling by the first adult-only episode of the Smurfs, in which the blue-skinned cartoon characters' village is annihilated by warplanes.

The short but chilling film is the work of Unicef, the United Nations Children's Fund, and is to be broadcast on national television next week as a campaign advertisement.

Clever kitty: I don't like the smell of this running electric space heater. I think I'll bury it under clothing.

"In the Realm of the Unreal" describes the life of a reclusive and somewhat creepy school janitor who died and left behind a 15,000-page illustrated children's book.

I've heard it claimed that the current excitement over the avian flu is primarily driven by researchers who need money, and not by immediate threat, but sometimes you get a Y2K and sometimes you get a Katrina.

Game over.
Congratulations.
Learn anything?
That's right...
Never get involved in a land war in Asia.

Well, let me break it down for you:

You have a total of 119 friends
You requested to guess 119 entries.
14 was skipped due to invalid content (surprising?).
You made 105 guesses.
You got 80 correct.
Doing the math for you, that means you got 76% correct
If it weren't for them meddling kids, I'da got em all!

The editor of an Afghan women's rights magazine was jailed after a presidential adviser accused him of publishing un-Islamic material — including an article critical of the practice of punishing adultery with 100 lashes, officials said Friday. ...

Afghanistan is a conservative Islamic country. Under a revised March 2004 media law signed by Karzai, content deemed insulting to Islam is banned. Criminal penalties were left vaguely worded, leaving open the possibility of punishment in accordance with Shariah, or Islamic law

"They used these pieces to make a replica of the 1918 virus, and brought it back to "life" -- viruses are not truly alive like other microbes -- by combining it with modern influenza virus pieces and growing it in bacteria."
I get so annoyed when it is claimed that life is not life.
