It's stuff like this that keeps me from wanting to be a hussy again. That, and the increased risk of getting common colds.
HPV & Polyamory-Specific Risks

But I also think about the next AIDS-like thing which might come along some day and not be preventable by condoms, leading to many megadeaths.

Plus, I don't like humans. They're made of people meat.

Much African American fiction in the twentieth century includes a common pivotal element in the growth of black characters: the first time one stands up to white indignity; refuses to touch one’s hat; objects to being called “boy”; and of course most famously, doesn’t give up one’s bus seat. For gay people, the equivalent experience, reproduced over and over again in fiction and reality, is the time when one finds dignity and courage by leaving one’s family, moving hundreds or thousands of miles, and finally finding a replacement family in the gay neighborhoods of New York, Chicago, or San Francisco. And, very often, never seeing or speaking to that birth family again.

...In living memory, African Americans have had the right to marry and to form families. One of the many evils of slavery was the way it could destroy families, which would stay together only at the suffrance of the master’s pleasure. But from the moment the slaves were free, it was a given that, of course, black people could marry. (Though it sadly took far too long to end the proscriptions against mixed-race marriages.) It pains me that you could regard my right to do the same as some kind of negotiable point.

"Apparently the newspaper article is extremely misleading. Brothels are legal now in Germany. A bar can apply for a licence to be a brothel. This particular bar is also a brothel. They are advertising in the job center for waitresses. Not prostitutes. If the woman who was put forward for the job refuses to take it and there are no mitigating circumstances, she can be penalised."
today thoughts: vegetarian required to accept work in a meat-packing plant because they used to be non-vegetarian and have done similar work before? pro-life medical technician required to accept a job in a place that does abortions? etc.

If claim in previous post were true (which probably isn't, and certainly wouldn't be upheld in court), then it's probably also legally the case that straight men would be required to accept jobs as prostitutes for male customers.

How about being forced to accept a job as a stunt person, or arctic fishing boat hand, or any other life-threatening job? I'd expect there to be general rules allowing one to specify what sorts of jobs they'd accept.

It seems like this should be a hoax or exaggeration, but haven't seen any debunking yet:

Germany Forcing Unemployed Women into Legalized Prostitution

however,
"A spokesman for the Federal Labour Office said that if job seekers said they were prepared to work as, for example, dancers in strip bars, advisers could put them in touch with any suitable employers, but vacancies would not be displayed in job centres.

He also stressed job centres would not look for prostitutes on behalf of brothels, nor offer sex industry jobs to people who had not specifically mentioned it as an area of interest.

Speculation has grown over recent weeks that Germany's new welfare reforms, obliging the long-term unemployed to take any available job or risk losing their benefits, could lead to women being offered jobs in the sex industry."
