Who spent the evening touring the German embassy and having a beer and hors d'oeuvres in the swanky bar in the basement of the ambassador's home? Why, me.
So what's German for "hors d'oeuvres" ?
The house had the most beautiful view of the DC area I've ever seen.
Impressed me: the big conference room at the top of the embassy is named after the only German ambassador to resign in protest of Hitler coming in to power, and there was another thing commemorating someone who was killed after taking part in an assassination attempt on Hitler. A nation that faces its own mistakes.
