-------------------------------------------------- Campaign for Afghan Children -------------------------------------------------- Mercy Corps seeks to raise $5 million for its Campaign for Afghan Children to save the lives of 50,000 children facing severe hunger and homelessness in northeastern Afghanistan. The window of opportunity is extremely narrow. By the end of November, snow and ice will leave the area inaccessible to land traffic until April 2002, cutting off valley towns from relief shipments and placing more than 10,000 displaced families at risk. For just $45, an Afghan child can be fed, housed and have access to sanitary water for six months. The last numbers i saw, the US was dropping "thousands" of meals, while up to 7 million people are in danger of starvation.
