I am supremely annoyed at "There are no earlier entries to display. This page displays only the most recent 1000 entries posted within the last 14 days.", as this makes the site almost useless to me, as I go away for months then come back to catch up.

Elderly cat stopped self-grooming a year or two ago. Long-haired, so fur got all matted. Got lion cut before, worked ok. Regrew, got matted. Got lion cut again, now shivers all day. Even in a room that claims to be 80 degrees. Bought a "sweater" which is more like an elastic shirt, and that didn't fix it. Has heated beds that only heat a little and only after weight is detected, so they start out cold, but she'll hopefully use them (already uses one, but in a cold room).

Pondering sewing a warmer thing (complicated by needing to get weekly saline injection around her shoulders, and needing it to be stretchy but warm). She has bad pooping habits which make it better for her to be locked out of the warmer room at night, making it all the more difficult.

Maybe an oil heater radiator thing in a big box with the cat bed? Warming pads tend to automatically shut off after a while and only warms the bottom part.

The procedure for re-entering my work building:
  1. Have a face covering
  2. Be on an approved-employee list
  3. Do a temperature self-check by:
    1. Putting sanitizing gel on your hands
    2. Putting on disposable gloves
    3. Taking the no-touch thermometer and wiping it down with a sanitizing wipe
    4. Hold it near your head to get a temperature reading
  4. Answer a set of questions about your health and travels and people environment.
Every day.

No word on whether or not we throw the thermometer in a fire if it turns out we have an elevated temperature.

is I think "I'll get rid of everything I don't care about", but with anhedonia I don't care about anything. Presumably after fixing anhedonia I care again, but what will I care about then?

Also, I can't donate things right now, so it's either trash for nice items or clutter some poor area with donations which interferes with making non-poor areas.

A Sonnet

I decided I should write a sonnet. I've got it all planned out, with Shakespearean ending rhyme scheme,
and Italian beginning rhyme scheme. Now stuck on needing some syllables and subject matter.

Maybe if I combine it with haiku somehow or have another rhyme scheme for the middle that will clear up the blockage.

Maybe a version of

The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named is not the eternal name
The nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth
The named is the mother of myriad things
Thus, constantly free of desire
One observes its wonders
Constantly filled with desire
One observes its manifestations
These two emerge together but differ in name
The unity is said to be the mystery
Mystery of mysteries, the door to all wonders

Sometimes i wish LJ still existed in a proper fashion or that this site was all that lj was, but then it isn't.

So that sucks and i'll never again have deep connections with people. The end.

Pardon ancient profile import. Will import LJ entries sometime maybe soon.

LJ servers moved to Moscow allegedly. Switching to Dreamwidth if so. I like to keep the number of dictators with access to my most private writings down to a manageable number. Putin won't have full access to all US data for at least another couple months I think.

REM sleep is the stage when people typically dream. Most sleepers are ‘paralysed’ during this stage because the brain shuts off the muscles.

But this doesn’t happen to those with REM disorders, who often act out their dreams with violent movements...

The research published in the medical journal Neurology adds to evidence that certain sleep disorders could be a predictor of brain diseases. ...researchers identified 27 people who experienced REM sleep disorders for at least 15 years before developing either Parkinson’s, dementia with Lewy bodies or multiple system atrophy – a disorder similar to Parkinson’s.

The time between the start of the sleep disorder and the symptoms of brain disease ranged up to 50 years, with an average span of 25 years.

But Ruth Sutherland, acting chief executive of the Alzheimer’s Society, said: ‘We don’t yet understand why this correlation exists, and given the small sample size of this study, more research is needed.’
