boiling water
Feb. 6th, 2003 09:59 amwhen a high-school tot, i passed out and knocked a boiling tea kettle off the wood stove and onto my arm, causing mighty big burns and some lasting scar. at the time, i seemed to be conscious of a scream, then gradually realized it was another part of me that was screaming.
here's what i wonder now:
was i unconscious or wasn't i? if i passed out, no consciousness, therefore shouldn't be hearing, tho remembering is more likely as that doesn't need consciousness. if i was conscious of it and not just remembering, what or who was doing the screaming? does it have consciousness? or is it just mechanical meat reaction? is there another option besides consciousness and non-consciousness? (ie subconcious is something like an independent conscious entity, but it's not the same as my consciousness.) blah something blah. m.
other associated wonderings. someday to read explaining consciousness book.
