Nov. 10th, 2005 03:04 pmThe Army now admits that it secretly dumped 64 million pounds of nerve and mustard agents into the sea, along with 400,000 chemical-filled bombs, land mines and rockets and more than 500 tons of radioactive waste - either tossed overboard or packed into the holds of scuttled vessels.— via
A Daily Press investigation also found:
These weapons of mass destruction virtually ring the country, concealed off at least 11 states - six on the East Coast, two on the Gulf Coast, California, Hawaii and Alaska. Few, if any, state officials have been informed of their existence.
...
Dumped there in about 2,000 feet of water were at least 77,000 mustard-filled mortar shells, 5,000 white phosphorous munitions, 1,500 1-ton canisters of Lewisite and 800 55-gallon barrels of military radioactive waste.
It couldn't be determined what kind of radioactive waste was dumped. But there's one indication that it could be highly dangerous waste with a half-life of thousands of years.

On the Effectiveness of Aluminium Foil Helmets: An Empirical Study
...we find that although on average all helmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions (either emanating from an outside source, or emanating from the cranium of the subject), certain frequencies are in fact greatly amplified. These amplified frequencies coincide with radio bands reserved for government use...— via

Nov. 10th, 2005 06:13 pmWe had to move the furniture and people away from the train tracks going through the house, since they couldn't stop the train. Went down the middle. Got a mild shock when I tried to use the anti-fire goo-squirter on some electrical fire. At the head of the ship, remembered the lecture about the great sailor Davy Jones who had heroically saved everyone by doing something down in the cave-like area that sloped down from the deck into the darkness. Shined the light in it and saw some strange log-like plants had grown there over the years in the darkness, and each had a giant iguana with eyes reflecting my light. Some really weird insects also started crawling up to the light; I warned grandma that they might be poisonous but she laughed and made mock-squeals as the creature clung to her hand. Thought later to take a photograph and try to get them identified on the net, but they'd been cleared out.
Look at me! Sleep cycle restored, up by 5:30, sun not even up yet! *morning person*
