When I was wee I was pulled off the football team I wanted to play on and given a little skirt and told to CHEER instead and there was a chere that went "GO Bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!" with associated pom pom thrusting and stepping forward. I rather that the purpose was to say N-A-N-A-N-A for as many times as it took you to complete the pom pom manuevers. To this day family asks me "how is it you spell bananananana?"
