btw, just has to be author, not author and book. a couple of those listed combine phrases from more than one book.

After the frustration of getting Greg Bear, I figured out how to cheat on your quiz (a while ago). However, once I did cheat, I discovered that I hadn't read the authors/books in question. I have no reason to take away the brain teasers from those who have, so won't answer any of the others.
