thursday, friday nights: quality inn, 1101 ocean st, santa cruz, 831-427-1616, room 320, internet, dining table with two chairs, desk, lamp, tv, couch, fridge, micronuke. screw this san jose crap, thought i, i'm going to the beach. except the beach beach was $250/night, and so i chose the extended inland beach.

may now pass out unless a plantgirl appears and instructs me to eat foodstuffs and obtain entertainment. except shower also needed, or perhaps i'll pass out in the shower while eating foodstuffs.

met with restaurant manager and something manager for half hour re: food poisoning, tho not with general manager who was "in a meeting"tm yeah right fuckwad, and they except for general manager appeared sincerely concerned and professional and actively tracing the problem. i told them to get a stack of photocopies at the front desk with all the local hospitals and which ones were good for what and directions and maps, so the next time someone has a problem they don't have to scribble down maps with wrong turns to hospitals that are useless. they seemed willing to do that. they seemed somewhat doubtful that it was their fish, but i gave them the scombroid name and symptoms to look up for themselves. so you never saw a doctor? they ask. no, i checked in to two different ones and gave up, i replied. lather repeat. how you know what it was? googled. lather rinse. learned one of the thingies they fed me was the evil "seared" raw tuna evil evil, and guess what tuna family not uncommonly has scombroid problems if not handled properly.

anyway, veganism got a big boost. i had been eyeing the eggplant, but guiltily got the gentle fishie what once splished in the happy waves.

filming went ok; warned them i might be wobbly weirdo due to ER etc. copycomment:
I certainly played that card, but apparently didn't blow it. "I've been filming people demoing their software all week and you've been hands-down the most familiar and comfortable with your software."

Of course, the part where I say "hope you learned something and thanks for watching" we had to re-take about 7 times, as I addressed the viewer rather than the computer.
also went a few hours over schedule, but mostly not due to me i think. marketing dude will chop out 50% of my content to fit his idea, silly unit. tries to disguise it as "alternate" takes that may or may not get used.

what else? although i've vowed several times to never eat at dennys again, suddenly it seemed safe and a known quantity, so kibble imbibed. i'll probably just stick to packaged donuts for now on tho. that's vegan, right??

iggit blah

Doughnuts: sometimes vegan, sometimes vegetarian. Must check product to see if dairy inside. *hugs*

"In a meeting" means the general manager is never, ever in the office, and it's perceived as unprofessional to make that fact explicit.

Based on the actions of the staff it looked more like he was there but wanted the food dude to handle it.
