(no subject)

The new device gives off a warm, yellowish-white light that shines twice as bright and lasts 50 times longer than the standard 60 watt light bulb.

In other power news, our apt has three-prong outlets in all the rooms...but the ground isn't actually hooked up to anything. With any luck, the management will ignore my message about it, and I can embarrass her when she tries to show the apartment on Thursday by asking when the heat will be turned on and when our electrical problems will be fixed. I've given up on the bathtub leak being fixed, and bot* a bigfuckingwrench to try to get the faucet off and replaced.

(*fascinating typo)

Most of the light switches and outlets were also put in upside-down, and the whole apt is running on one 30 amp circuit breaker feeding four 20 amp fuses, with most of the apt coming off one of those fuses. Lights dim when things get turned on. But what's a little electrical fire between friends?

(No, mom, you don't need to worry, the place won't burn down accidentally. Deliberately, maybe, accidentally, no.)

Special order from Stefphf: bring shampoo and conditioner! poor, poor.

Bigfuckingwrench: success!

Why is she trying to show your apartment on Thursday?

And yes, shampoo and conditioner are vitally important to mental well-being.

Someone looking to rent Jun 2005. Our lease officially thru March 29.

Ah. I see. But they're looking to rent so far in advance? Strange.

Big fucking guns wrench!

Yikes! Even though not staying much longer, you should perhaps report this to the proper authorities for the safety of the new tenants. I'm willing to bet your apartment is not the only on in such poor shape.

Oh... and, hi hi.

You seem to be having as much trouble with your apartment (maybe even more) as I am with mine. Grrrr ..
I feel for you, John. Really I do. When is your lease up? Will you be moving soon and if not why??????

Actually they came by just now to turn the heat on. As for the electrical, they say "It's safe and it's legal, these old places just don't have the third wire so there's no way to hook it up." Fla.

6 month lease; Steph needs to be around for 6 months of testing, so might actually be 6 months from now instead of 6 months from when we started.

Welllllllll you can hook up the ground wire to the neutral on the back of the outlet, which does work, kind of. It's also not impossible to pull new wire using the old wire, but way more work than you want to put into a house you're not going to be living in for long.
