Caused VectorWorks to fail to start up, consequently driving me batty, almost to the point of wiping my hard drive and reinstalling everything to get things working again.
have you tried subversion (http://subversion.tigris.org/)? i haven't, but i hear good things about it from people who ought to know what they're talking about.

however i not am sure it accesses existing cvs reposititotitories, which is primary need now
