Force drug companies to reveal the results of all studies
"A recent study revealed that teenagers who took a certain antidepressant were more likely to consider suicide. But even more disturbing is the fact that the company responsible for both the drug and the study hid these findings from the public.

Existing laws and regulations make it easy for drug companies to hide the results of studies that might make their products look bad. This means that we could be unknowingly taking medication that might endanger our health or work less effectively than other drugs.

We can’t let the drug companies police themselves any longer! Congress must force the industry to tell us the results of their tests on prescription drugs, so doctors and the public will know about any potential dangers."

Pharmaceutical testing is tricky. The funding comes from pharmaceutical companies, and profs at universities have to sign confidentiality forms in order to get the funding. If they publish the negative test results, they get cut off from funding and other companies will also black list them. Legislation is currently in place to protect drug companies, as expected, given that they are one of the big democratic/republican fund providers. Health care is controlled by the pharm companies, not the government, and will until the masses get with it, or get some of the rich man's money to fight back.

My family feels this happened to my brother last year. He was suicidal, and also pulled a knife at school. It was quite surprising to all of us (that he would even do that.. although i have to admit that i've done the same thing myself at his age, in the same situation - being bullied). I gather he's feeling more himself these days, now that he's off it.
