It really makes me wonder what the family was planning to *do* with his brain that was so important. I mean, I expect that the guy was done with it.

Why? There seems to be no explanation of that -- why it affected her so much.

Also, what's with the latter half of the sentence? Is it there solely to drum up sympathy, or is she saying that if she had other surviving family members, she wouldn't care? (Maybe it's that she now has no direct family members' brains left to feed on.)

I assume it has affected her deeply as the only family member who can sue and get rich.
