Do you know what variety it is? I love pretty smelling roses.
One of my favorite roses for fragrance is Rosa 'Mme. Isaac Pierre' (http://www.lejardindesophie.net/jardinautes/pierre/rosammeisaacpereire.htm). One of my favorites in terms of color(s) is Rosa 'Playboy' (http://gardening.tiscali.co.za/0361.htm). I also have two miniatures that have lovely spicy peppery fragrances, which I often like: 'Sunny Day' and (running outside with flashlight to check) 'Sachet'.
If you're ever down here during rose season, we'll have to go to Gamble Garden, in Palo Alto, to smell the roses!
