It has to be syncable between clients on more or less any platform and most handhelds. It has to have different security levels for different users. There need to be group layers you can overlay on your own calendar views. It needs to be possible to select all the people you want to invite to something and have it block out when everyone's free by polling their calendars. It needs to be able to send e-mail invites and collect responses. You should be able to set multiple reminders for a given event.
It definitely needs to work with any blog or journal client to remind me, and possibly also email.
I'd want something with lots of customization, icons, ability to be hosted online as well as be easily updated. It would need to have options for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly views, with unlimited events for a day. Something that displays time in 15 or 30 minute incriments (on daily). A calendar with customizable holidays/annual events, and can have several variables for repeating events (i.e. every second and fourth Thursday of each month or each Sunday every three weeks, etc.). And if it's to be marketable, it needs to be idiot proof.
Hey, if it's working with internet clinets like LJ, maybe it could include a reply feature from others as invitations ... but I'm getting carried away.
needs to interact with an address book (like when you want to call someone)
needs to interact with web browser somehow.
and email program.
and also, would be nice to make the to-do items have a range of days for deadline of completion, with various ways to sort them (by importance, by first day they need to be complete, by the last day they need to be complete, make a list with about the same number of items to be completed each day, give them weights representing amount of time needed to complete, then make to -do list for each day trying to balance weights, etc.
