Wee-year-old locked her self in the bathroom. Hmm, door doesn't unlock, even with screwdriver from other side. Actually, it does lock and unlock, but stays closed.

45 minutes later, and several angry thumps from neighbors below, the doorknob and latch are in 13 broken twisted pieces, and it still won't open. The very tip of the latch had somehow broken off from the rest and was stuck in the way. Pulled that out and trala, one child found sleeping in the bathtub.

I was shocked to learn that some read "meme" as "me me" rather than rhyming with gene. Also, the LJ web interface preview sucks.

Last night I dreamed that cute fluffy kitty Quarky was going to shoot me with a shotgun, so I had better shoot him first. Naturally, I wondered if the claws would help or hinder his shooting.


This morning, a 3ish-year old and I scrabbled for my ring, quietly hissing "my preciousss" to each other. The ring is on my finger now, and the child is gone. This is the benefit of being larger.

Today, after driving miss raven, I pluckt 10 or 3 or 20 species of mushrooms. I shall put them in the whirring device, I think, creating a slurry, full of hopeful spoors and somethings, which upon application to the back yard, will surely produce a handsome and voluminous crop of pointy-capped critters. All for much less than you might think!

Then there was the pizza, which changed last minute when I saw the mix-of-gourmet-mushrooms special advertised, so of course that was then the thing, along with the root beer. It is still the thing, and will continue to be into tomorrow, along with the leftover approximate soup, and the leftover leftover stuffing.

Then there was the Blair UFO Project.

I've been sponsoring kids through Childreach for the last 10 years or so. Normally it lasts until they're 18, but my current sponsored child's community has met its objectives and Childreach is leaving to avoid creating a sense of dependency. So now I have to decide whether to continue with some other kid somewhere, or stop and pay off debt/buy more pizza instead.

I've never been good at writing to the kids, so I always feel guilty about that. Presumably I'm improving their lives, and that's why I chose to do this originally instead of just giving money to less personal things like Amnesty International, where there's no visible connection between what I give and any particular human.
